I just got my permit today I drove about an hour first in a parking lot then a road way on the school property. After I got to to drive on side streets and a little bit of the main road connecting. Tomorrow I will go to drive to my grandmas which has a bride and hills and more….hills. I need tips and lots of them. I was a tad nervous but according to my mom I did pretty well.
HILLS
It’s just going to take practice to learn how to keep your speed constant going up the hill and back down the other side. You’ll have to increase pressure on the pedal going up. You’ll have to decrease pressure going down. If the hill is steep enough, you may have to even take your foot completely off the pedal. On an extreme hill, you may even have to apply the brake a little. As I said earlier though it just takes practice.
Now my previous thoughts were assuming its an automatic. If its a standard (good lord) then you’ll have to learn all about downshifting
…………..
Practice makes perfect. Don’t tailgate, go the speed limit, wear you seat belt, and if you get nervous…pullover.
Good luck .I’m sure you will do fine.
